German automobile manufacturer Volkswagen Group on October 30th released a report showing that the US tariff measures may cause losses to the company up to 5 billion euros a year.

According to the public financial report, the company's operating profit in the first nine months of this year was 5.4 billion euros, a year-on-year decrease of 58%, of which the operating loss in the third quarter was 1.3 billion euros. Arnault Antelitz, chief financial officer and chief operating officer of Volkswagen Group, said that an important reason for the decline in the group's operating profit is the tariff increase imposed by the United States, and the related impact is expected to continue.

In the first three quarters of the year, Volkswagen's global sales reached 6.58 million units, an increase of 1.8%, with sales in the North American market falling 11%.

Volkswagen-owned Porsche recently released a financial report showing that the company's operating profit in the first nine months of this year dropped significantly from 4 billion euros in the same period last year to 40 million euros.

Mercedes-Benz Group released its financial report on the 29th, showing that its net profit in the first three quarters of this year was 3.88 billion euros, a year-on-year decrease of half. Among them, the sales volume, revenue and profit of the automobile business all declined. The financial report believes that macro factors such as the US tariff policy have brought uncertainty to the company's performance.

The German "Business Journal" on the 30th that the tariff policy implemented by the United States puts German car brands under greater pressure.Deutsche Zeitung said in a comment on the same day that the weak demand in key industries such as automobiles is plaguing the German industry, and the high U.S. tariffs have also hindered the export of "Made in Germany" products.
