The Greek Daily reported that the Greek Ministry of Culture and the Ministry of Civil Protection are jointly formulating a security plan, and plan to deploy about 300 special guards to be responsible for the security of cultural institutions. It is expected that the new guards will officially join the first quarter of 2026. At present, the security of such institutions is mainly undertaken by civilian staff of the Ministry of Culture.

The Greek Ministry of Culture will also conduct a safety assessment to prioritize the protection of museums that store rare artifacts and artistic treasures as high-risk sites.

The Louvre Museum in Paris was recently robbed, and many pieces of jewelry are still missing. There have been incidents of theft of cultural relics in Greece. In 2012, paintings by famous artists such as Picasso were stolen from the National Art Museum of Athens. In the same year, theft also occurred at the Archaeological Museum of Ancient Olympia.
