U.S. Defense Secretary (the ¡°Minister of War¡±) Hergezes signed an order this week to extend the residence until the ¡°mission is completed.¡±At present, the capital has more than 2,300 members of the National Guard from Washington, Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, West Virginia, Ohio and South Carolina.

Local officials and residents in Washington have strongly criticized the deployment. Colombia Attorney General Brian Schwab has filed a lawsuit over it, and a federal judge held a hearing last week.
