Breaking-News >> WorldNews Japan's new generation cargo spacecraft successfully docked with the International Space Station
Japan's new-generation cargo spacecraft HTV-X1 arrived at the International Space Station on October 30 and successfully coupled with the space station. Live footage from the Japan Aerospace Research and Development Agency (JAXA) shows that the HTV-X1 spacecraft launched on 26th of this month approached the International Space Station on the morning of 30th, flying at a speed of about 8 kilometers per second, and adjusted the speed with the space station to remain relatively stable. JAXA released a press release that day, after the HTV-X1 spacecraft was captured by the mechanical arm, on the 30th 20:10 (Beijing time 19:10) the connection with the International Space Station was completed. According to JAXA, during the connection, astronauts will also install a small exposure experimental platform sent by the spacecraft outside the Japanese "Hope" experimental cabin of the space station, in addition to carrying the material taken from the spacecraft to the International Space Station. As planned, the spacecraft will be in orbit for about three months after discharge from the International Space Station to carry out technical verification tasks, including the release of a small satellite at an altitude of about 500 kilometers, the verification of lightweight flat antennas in orbit and the next generation of space solar cells. The HTV-X unmanned cargo spacecraft has a total length of about 8 meters and a diameter of about 4.4 meters, and is the successor to the Japanese cargo spacecraft, which can transport approximately 6 tons of effective load into near-Earth orbit. This is the first launch of the spacecraft, because it can still fly in orbit for a maximum of a year and a half after leaving the space station, and can also be used as a space experimental platform.
