The G20 Cultural Working Group in South Africa adopts the Quaduca Cultural Declaration

The ministerial meeting of the G20 Cultural Working Group on October 30 in Johannesburg, South Africa, closed in the town of Quaduca in the province of Quaduca-Natal on October 29. The meeting adopted the Quaduca Cultural Declaration, which provided a framework for members to cooperate in the protection of cultural heritage, the development of creative industries, the promotion of cultural diversity and international dialogue.

South African Minister for Sport, Arts and Culture Gatton McKenzie praised the members' long-standing close cooperation in the field of cultural arts and said the Declaration brought together consensus and planned a clear path to fully leverage the catalyst role of culture in socio-economic development.

The declaration establishes four priority guiding principles, including strengthening the protection and return of cultural heritage, promoting the deep integration of cultural policies and socio-economic strategies, using digital technology to promote cultural development, and paying attention to the interaction between culture and climate change.

The declaration emphasizes that culture is a key force in bridging social differences, promoting inclusive development and promoting sustainable growth. All parties called for strengthening global collaboration to combat illegal trafficking in cultural property, improving national policy frameworks, increasing investment in public cultural fields, and effectively improving the level of cultural heritage protection and development vitality.

The Declaration also encourages the full use of digital technologies and innovative ways of cultural exchange, deepening the strategic link between cultural policy and socio-economic and climate action, and providing culture-related wisdom and solutions to address global challenges.

In addition, the outcome of this meeting will be included in the agenda of the upcoming G20 Summit in Johannesburg in November.
