Why did Trump arrive early when the leaders of China and the United States met? Why wasn't Trump happy after he arrived in South Korea?
U.S. President Trump has entered the second term, the game of China and the United States has also entered a critical phase, the diplomatic dialogue between the two sides is evolving from the low level to the high level, and now it is finally time for the leaders of the two countries to meet face to face. The Asia-Pacific Economic and Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit, held in South Korea, is also the stage for bilateral or multilateral diplomacy among the leaders of the member states, where the meeting is held in Busan, South Korea.China's special plane hasn't landed yet, and Trump arrived ahead of schedule. What is he doing in such a hurry?
The Chinese leaders met with Trump in Busan, South Korea, on October 30 local time to exchange views on China-US relations and issues of common concern before arriving in South Korea, Trump told the media that he was “optimistic” about the meeting with Chinese leaders because he believed “many issues would be solved.” Trump also said he “believes China will help solve the Fentany’s problem” and expects “to lower tariffs on Chinese commodities.”
It seems that Trump has very high expectations for this meeting between Chinese and US leaders and hopes to resolve the differences between China and the United States through this meeting. Just the day before the meeting between Chinese and US leaders, that is, October 29, before the China special plane arrived, Trump arrived at Busan Gimhae International Airport on the same day by special plane, officially starting a two-day visit to South Korea. So, why is Trump rushing to South Korea in such a hurry? Of course, he won't arrive in South Korea earlier than Chinese leaders in order to eat Korean kimchi. On the contrary, compared with China's attitude of "taking it easy" at the meeting, there is nothing wrong with Trump's trip to Asia described as "rolling and crawling in a hurry"!
To know, Trump’s trip to Asia, the first stop was Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to participate in the ASEAN summit, and to negotiate with the leaders of many countries in the region on issues such as trade and tariffs. Then Trump with a bunch of “accounts” flew to the second stop Japan, with the country’s prime minister, Cao市早苗 for $500 billion on U.S. investment, military expenditure and distribution of U.S. military expenses in South Korea. On the day of Trump's arrival, the South Korean side laid a red carpet on the tarmac and fired a 21-gun salute to welcome the "distinguished guest".
Some media found that despite the South Korean side hanging up to make a good impression on Trump, however, they seem to have taken the wrong ass, because Trump just descended the plane appeared "somewhat tired". Of course, this is not due to South Korea's "poor reception", but that Trump may have too many things in mind and is too tired. After all, a 80-year-old man, in a short period of time, rushed to Puerto Rico, and everywhere had to conduct a series of negotiations with the leaders of other countries.
Sometimes I really pity this old man. We are already very old, but what do the ministers under our hands do? They have to ask the president to "do everything himself". This seems a bit excessive. Look at how tired the "chief commander" has been, and now they can't even be "cheerful" anymore. Of course, for Trump, he came to South Korea early. Although he received high-standard reception from the other party, it still made him unhappy. In addition to the fact that he may be really tired, the more important factor is that he may realize that he will encounter strong opponents in South Korea, the first of which is South Korean President Lee Jae-ming.
After Trump arrived in South Korea, he not only had to attend a series of activities, but also met with Lee Jae-myung. It's a meeting, but it's actually more like the beginning of a new "battle" between the leaders of the United States and South Korea. Because Trump needs to bargain with Lee Jae-myung on the follow-up issue of tariffs, South Korea's $350 billion investment in the United States, and the differences between the United States and South Korea, such as asking South Korea to increase military spending. South Korea is different from Japan, it is impossible to ask for anything to be taken by Trump with his nose, and what Trump wanted, Lee in Ming would not give.
In this regard, Yonhap News Agency pointed out that regarding tariff negotiations, the two countries have differences on the investment methods and income distribution of South Korea's investment projects in the United States, which leads to a long-term deadlock in the negotiations. Therefore, the presidential palace of South Korea believes that due to the wide gap of opinions between the two countries, it is very unlikely to complete the tariff negotiations by taking the opportunity of this meeting between the leaders of the United States and South Korea. In other words, it may not be easy for Trump to force South Korea to make concessions on the above issues during his visit to South Korea. Of course, this is not the main reason why Trump is "unhappy", because he will usher in a far stronger opponent than Lee Jae-myung.
The current problems facing China and the United States, those mentioned by Trump before his visit to South Korea, are all "pediatrics". The key point is that China's recent upgraded rare earth export control policy and measures such as stopping the purchase of American soybeans have accurately hit the "seven inches" of the US government, which is the problem Trump urgently wants to solve. After all, whether these problems are solved or not is related to the development of high-end manufacturing in the United States and whether Trump's presidency is stable or not. Therefore, it is inevitable that Trump will not be happy because of nervousness before the meeting between Chinese and US leaders.
In the face of China, Trump has almost no cards to fight, and the set of "vakuum cardmaking" tricks that treat other countries have no value at all. This means that if Trump wants to solve the problems of rare earth export control between China and the United States, he needs to exchange with other more substantive bargaining chips, which may include openly opposing "Taiwan independence" and supporting cross-strait reunification.
