During the review of the International Atomic Energy Agency's annual report, China's permanent deputy representative to the UN said that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) should play a constructive role in promoting the political resolution of Iran's nuclear issue, and provide support for all relevant parties to move forward and resolve differences through dialogue and negotiation.

Xi Jinping said that the agency, as the most important intergovernmental international organization in the nuclear field, should adhere to its objective, fair and independent technical characteristics, and strictly perform its duties in accordance with its authorization.China hopes that the Director-General of the agency and the Secretariat of the agency will attach great importance to the different opinions and concerns of all parties on major sensitive issues concerning the common interests of the member states, and will promote in-depth discussions, efforts to consolidate consensus, and steady work.

Xi Jinping said that China and Iran, Russia in New York and Vienna issued joint letters on the issue of Security Council resolution 2231 stressing that the resolution has expired, calling on all parties to engage in contact dialogue, abandon sanctions and pressure to create favorable conditions for the political settlement of the Iranian nuclear issue.

Geng Shuang emphasized that the agency should take a clear-cut stand against armed attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities, resolutely avoid man-made nuclear accidents, continue to play a constructive role around the safety and security of Ukrainian nuclear facilities, and provide technical support and assistance to relevant parties. China supports the "seven pillars" and "five principles" proposed by the Agency to ensure the safety and security of Ukraine's nuclear facilities, and calls on relevant parties to cooperate with the Agency's work and create necessary conditions for the Agency to perform its duties.

Xi Jinping pointed out that the institutions should continue to conduct open, inclusive and democratic discussions on the issue of nuclear submarine cooperation around the United States and Australia on the basis of equality and mutual respect.The U.S. and Australia nuclear submarine cooperation violates the purposes and objectives of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons, there is a serious nuclear proliferation risk, and the treaty and institutional guarantee supervision mechanism poses serious challenges.

China¡¯s joining the International Atomic Energy Agency for more than 40 years has always been committed to supporting the agency¡¯s work with practical actions and contributing to global nuclear governance and development. Recently, China introduced a global governance initiative, which contributed China¡¯s wisdom and China¡¯s strategy to promote the building of a more equitable and reasonable global governance system.
