Cambodian police cracked two large-scale online fraud cases and 65 people were arrested

On October 28, Cambodian police joined forces in Phnom Penh and Gomb Province.Two large-scale cyber fraud operations, 65 people arrestedAmong them are seven Chinese and 58 Vietnamese.

In Operation Phnom Penh, the Cambodian National Police, together with the Sangyuan District Police and the Phnom Penh City Police, coordinated by the Deputy Prosecutor of the Junior Court, raided the 17th floor of an apartment along Norodom Avenue in Sangyuan. During the operation, the police arrested seven Chinese men suspected of online fraud and seized 32 mobile phones, computers and other items involved on the spot.

Police investigation revealed that the suspects committed fraud through “cyber love” and targeted primarily foreign victims. Currently, the police are pursuing the culprits behind the fraudulent gang. The arrested and related evidence have been handed over to the Immigration General Administration and relevant departments to deal with according to law.

On the same day, the Cambodian National Police General Administration also jointly operated with the Kampot Provincial Police to raid three townhouses, one villa and one room in Bugo City, and arrested 58 Vietnamese nationals suspected of online fraud. It is reported that seven of the suspects have been issued arrest warrants by local courts. The police seized 63 computers, 48 mobile phones and other exhibits at the scene.

Preliminary investigations showed that the fraud band, using "investment" and "electronic currency" as a pretext, carried out cross-border fraud through fake websites, mainly targeting people abroad.

The police stressed that the Cambodian government has "zero tolerance" for all online fraud, and law enforcement agencies across the country will continue to severely crack down on such crimes, investigate the masterminds and those involved in the case to the end according to law, and will not tolerate them.
