Díaz-Canel said that Cuba is a country with dignity and resilience that is not afraid of a turbulent, brutal, ruthless and hypocritical United States. He pointed out that although the tough pressure from the United States made individual countries surrender, the vast majority of countries in the world still voted for Cuba.

Cuban Foreign Minister Rodriguez also posted on social media on the same day, thanking for voting to defend the truth of Cuba, once again calling on the United States to end the country's blockade of Cuba, and stressing that this is "the victory of truth over imperialist lies". he said that no lie propaganda can defeat the power of the truth defended by Cuba. The blockade does exist and brings invaluable suffering to the Cuban people. The 33rd General Assembly passed this resolution with an overwhelming majority, again demonstrating the strong opposition of the international community to this "immoral and genocidal nature" policy.

The United Nations General Assembly passed the resolution with 165 votes in favour, 7 votes against and 12 abstentions on the day, ¡°The US must end the economic, commercial and financial blockade on Cuba.¡± The United Nations official website shows that U.S., Israel and Argentina voted against the resolution.

Rodriguez condemned the U.S. government's pressure on several countries to change its voting stance on the 22nd press conference. He revealed that the U.S. government sent documents to many countries on 8 and 17 of this month, claiming that "Cuba's economic problems are not caused by blockade", "there is no blockade on Cuba", and asking countries to vote against it. At the same time, the U.S. also sent letters with threatening content to many countries, linking the voting stance to the relationship between these countries and the U.S. in terms of economy, diplomacy, security, trade, visas and so on.

After the victory of the Cuban Revolution in 1959, the U.S. government adopted a hostile policy towards Cuba. In 1962, the United States imposed an economic and financial embargo and trade embargo on Cuba. In January 2021, the United States added Cuba to the list of "state sponsors of terrorism". Rodriguez said in September this year that at current prices, the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba for more than 60 years has caused Cuba to lose more than 170.6 billion dollars.
