EU-Ukraine Trade Agreement officially enters into force

On October 29, local time, the European Commission issued a statement stating that the upgraded EU-Ukraine Deep Comprehensive Free Trade Area Agreement (DCFTA) officially came into force on October 29. The upgraded agreement restricted EU imports of sensitive agricultural products, incorporated strong new safeguards and stipulated the harmonization of production standards between Ukraine and the EU.

The European Council announced on October 13 that the Council voted on the same day to adopt a resolution agreeing in the EU-Ukraine Joint Committee to reduce or abolish agricultural tariffs on Ukrainian dairy products, fresh vegetables and meat. The resolution stems from the preliminary agreement reached by the two sides on June 30, 2025 on the EU-Ukraine Deep Comprehensive Free Trade Area review, aimed at building a long-term trade framework for reciprocity.
