Sudan's Rapid Support Forces announce investigation into civilian killings in El Fasher

On October 29, local time, Dagalo, leader of the Sudan Rapid Support Forces, issued a statement on social media, announcing the establishment of an investigation committee to investigate the killing of civilians in El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur in western Sudan.

In a statement, Dagarlo said the Commission had begun its work and would publish the findings in a timely manner. He warned that fast-backed troops should not violate citizens’ rights or property, and that any troops involved in attacks or abuse of civilians would be held accountable by law. He noted that the civilians of Fashir enjoy full freedom of action. He also promised that once the work of clearing the mines and the remains of the war is completed, the fast-backed troops will immediately withdraw from Fashir and the security work will be transferred to the police.

Mona Daim, head of the Sudan Humanitarian Aid Commission, said earlier in the day that the Rapid Support Forces killed more than 2,000 civilians in the process of controlling El Fasher. The Sudanese non-governmental organization "Sudan Doctors Network" issued a statement on the same day saying that in the past three days, about 1,500 civilians in El Fasher were killed by the Rapid Support Forces.

Since May 2024, the Rapid Support Forces have long-term sieged Fashir. On 26th this month, the Rapid Support Forces announced full control of Fashir.
