Trump announced on 23rd that he had suspended trade talks with Canada because of his dissatisfaction with an advertisement sponsored by the Ontario government. Trump accused Canada of “deceptively” claiming that former U.S. President Reagan opposed tariffs. Trump also said on 25th that because of Canadian Ontario’s TV advertisement that raised tariffs against the United States, he intended to impose a 10% tariff on imports from Canada on the current tax basis.
