On October 29, local time, the United States announced a new round of sanctions against Russia, focusing on Russia's two major oil giants-Lukoil and Rosneft. These two companies and their 34 subsidiaries are included in the sanctions list, involving oil and gas exploration, exploitation and development. U.S. citizens and businesses are prohibited from trading with them, and more than 50% of their holding entities are automatically restricted.

This round of sanctions echoes the sanctions issued by the United Kingdom on October 15 and the European Union on October 23, respectively. The latter includes a ban on short-term contracts to import Russian liquefied natural gas from April 2026 and a full implementation of a long-term ban from 2027. (CCTV reporter Liu Xu)
