Foreign media: Suspected of throwing hand grenades at Israeli embassy, Denmark accuses two Swedish citizens of "terrorist crimes"

According to news agencies, the Danish "Copenhague Post" and other media reports, the Danish prosecutor's office on October 29 accused two Swedish citizens of terrorism crimes, who were suspected of attacking the Israeli embassy in Copenhagen in October last year with two hand grenades.

Danish prosecutor Lise-Lot Nilas said: “We assess that the target of the defendant’s hand grenades was the Israeli embassy, in which case the attack on the embassy should be treated as a terrorist act,” according to the prosecutor’s statement, “Two defendants, aged 18 and 20 respectively, delivered five hand grenades near the embassy, two of which were thrown in the direction of the embassy, but eventually hit nearby residential buildings and exploded.”

Danish prosecutors have filed charges of “terrorism” and “terrorism attempt” and demanded that the defendant be expelled and permanently banned from entering Denmark.

According to AFP, the bombing began early on October 2 last year, hours after an Israeli embassy in Stockholm was shot.Since the escalation of the Israeli conflict in October 2023, there have been several attacks on Israeli targets in Sweden: Police found unexploded grenades in the Israeli embassy park in February this year, and another shooting outside the embassy in May, prompting the country to strengthen the security of Israeli-related facilities and the Jewish community.
