"Crime scandal": multiple shootings in the U.S. capital in just nine hours, 12 people injured

[World Wide Web Reporter Li Ziyu] According to a report by Fox News on the 28th, police revealed that multiple shooting incidents occurred in Washington, D.C., in just 9 hours last week, injuring 12 people. This was the "most violent" weekend this year.

A series of violent incidents began around 17:30 local time on the 24th, when a girl was shot in a neighborhood in Washington. Only 15 minutes later, a teenager was shot in another neighborhood. Two hours later, a man was shot in a neighborhood in the northwest of the city. At 20:18, a five-year-old boy was wounded by bullets on a terrace in the southeastern part of the city.

A few minutes later, the violence reoccurred, as three men, a woman and a teenager were shot at a few steps from the campus at the time of a return to school event at Howard University in the U.S. Police arrested two 19-year-old suspects and seized three guns in the case, according to officials.

The report continued that after nightfall, two more men were shot at a location in northeastern Washington. A few hours later, on the morning of 25th local time, another man was shot and seriously injured in a square in the northwest of the city.

Fox News said police were still searching for suspects associated with each of the shootings, which was one of the worst periods of criminal activity since the end of the year.
