On October 29, local time, Sudan's Darfur regional leader Minavi said that the city of Fashir, the capital of northern Darfur, is located in the western part of Sudan.The Saudi maternity hospital was attacked by militants on the 28th, killing more than 460 patients receiving treatment in the hospital.

Minawi condemned the attack by the Sudanese Rapid Support Force. The Rapid Support Force has not responded to the statement.

The World Health Organization issued a statement the day before saying that the Saudi maternity hospital was attacked by militants and six medical staff were kidnapped.

Since May 2024, Sudan¡¯s Rapid Support Forces have long been encircled by the city of Fashir. This month, Sudan¡¯s Rapid Support Forces announced full control of the city of Fashir. Sudan¡¯s Sovereign Committee Chairman and Armed Forces Chief Commander Burhan said on 27th that Sudan¡¯s Armed Forces have withdrawn from the city of Fashir. At present, the capital of the five states of the Sudanese Darfur region are controlled by Rapid Support Forces.

On April 15, 2023, an armed conflict broke out between the Sudanese Armed Forces and the Rapid Support Force in the capital Khartoum, and the fighting subsequently spread to other areas.
