The general election in Tanzania began on 29 October.The vote started at 7 a.m. on the same day and is scheduled to end at 16 a.m. and is expected to announce the results within 72 hours.

According to the statistics of Tanzania's National Election Commission, there were about 37.6 million registered legal voters and about 100,000 polling stations in this general election. A total of 17 candidates competed for the post of President of the United Republic. Tanzanian media said that Samia Suluhu Hassan, the candidate of the ruling Revolutionary Party and the current President, was most likely to win.

In this general election, Tanzania will elect the President of the United Republic, members of the National Assembly and local councillors. Zanzibar will elect President San, members of the People's Congress and local councillors, and will also participate in the election of the President of the United Republic and members of the National Assembly.

The United Republic of Tanzania consists of two parts of Tanzania (continent) and Zanzibar (island). As a semi-autonomous region, Zanzibar has its own president and parliament. The President of the United Republic and President of Zanzibar are directly elected by voters, and the most voted presidential candidate is elected, for a term of five years each, with a re-election.
