Pakistan: New round of dialogue with Afghanistan "failed to reach viable solution"

Pakistan's news and radio minister Atola Talar said on October 29 that the new round of dialogue between Pakistan and Afghanistan in Istanbul, Turkey, "failed to reach a viable solution."

Talal issued a statement on social media on the same day, saying that during this round of dialogue, Pakistan repeatedly negotiated with Afghanistan on the cross-border terrorist activities of terrorist organizations such as the "Pakistani Taliban" and "Balochistan Liberation Forces", demanding that Afghanistan fulfill its commitments to Pakistan and the international community. During the dialogue, Pakistan submitted evidence to the Arab side to prove that some terrorist attacks against Pakistan were instigated in Afghanistan, and the evidence was confirmed by the Arab side and Turkey and Qatar, the host countries of the dialogue.

The statement also said that during the dialogue, the Arab side constantly deviated from the core issues, did not make clear guarantees to combat the above-mentioned terrorist organizations, and adopted the attitude of prevarication and accusation to deal with the Pakistani side. The dialogue failed to reach a viable solution.

At present, Afghan officials have not yet responded to the Pakistani statement.

Pakistan and Afghanistan have exchanged fire many times in the border areas in recent days. Qatar's Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on the 19th of this month that under the mediation of Qatar and Turkey, Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to an immediate ceasefire and will continue talks to ensure the sustainability of the ceasefire. On the 25th of this month, Pakistan and Afghanistan started a new round of dialogue in Istanbul, Turkey, to discuss specific mechanisms for implementing the ceasefire agreement and strengthening security cooperation.
