Breaking-News >> WorldNews U.S. withdraws licenses for several Mexican airlines to travel to the United States
The U.S. Department of Transportation announced on October 28 that it had withdrawn 13 existing or planned licenses for Mexican Airlines to enter the U.S. and suspended all hybrid passenger flights to the U.S. from Mexico’s Felipe Angeles International Airport. According to an order signed by U.S. Secretary of Transportation Duffy, the revoked license covers existing or planned routes of three airlines: AlmoMexico Airlines, Volaris Airlines and Viva Airlines. At the same time, Aeromexico's expansion of passenger and cargo mixed services between Mexico's Benito Juárez International Airport and the United States (i.e., belly cargo business) was also temporarily frozen. The Mexican side said it had “illegally cancelled and frozen U.S. airlines’ flights for three years without being punished.” The U.S. Department of Transportation said that Mexico's continued non-compliance with bilateral aviation agreements "may affect the travel plans of American passengers" and advised passengers to contact their airlines for specific change information.
