Breaking-News >> WorldNews During the speech, the power suddenly lost during the speech, the president of Zimbabwe used flashlight to illuminate the rest of the speech
[Global Network Reporter Yan Peiyun] According to Zimbabwe's news website ZIMLIVE and Russian newspaper Izvestia, Zimbabwean President Mnangagwa delivered a speech at the opening of the third session of parliament on the 28th local time. During this period, the parliament building suddenly lost power, and Mnangagwa was forced to use flashlight illumination to complete this speech in the dark. At 2:30 p.m. local time on the 28th, Mnangagwa’s speech was about to end, when the power system broke down. The security department advised him to stop speaking, but Mnangagwa insisted on continuing. His assistant lighted his speech with a light bulb. In response to this case, Zimbabwean MP Moudendah apologized to Mnangagwa and hinted that there was intentional destruction and pledged to identify and severely punish the perpetrators. According to the report, the power outage was due to parliamentary officials choosing to rent power generators at the meeting instead of using the national power company system, but the power generator later failed. The decision was to avoid repeating the similarity of power outages during the National Budget report released last November. The report mentioned that Zimbabwe still faces a severe power shortage, with many homes and businesses losing power for more than five hours a day.
