The Preface:
As the saying goes, you can't hide your family's dirty laundry, but now the "dirty laundry" on the front line in Ukraine cannot be hidden. The soldiers openly complained that the war could not be fought. This was not only the gap in weapons, but also an unspeakable chill.
Current Ukraine, as if caught in a huge bottomless hole, filled with fresh lives, what in exchange?
Why did the two important places become "meat grinders"?
Let's talk about these two places where the fight is most fierce first, Kupyansk. You can imagine it as an important transportation hub, like a major artery connecting Kharkiv and Luhansk. A lot of ammunition and food sent from the rear of the Ukrainian army have to pass through here. If this road is cut off, the soldiers on the front line will have a hard time.
Another place is Pokrovsk (Russian for Krasnoyarsk), a major town in Donetsk, equivalent to a core hub of the Ukrainian defense line in the Donbass region.
If this place is lost, the entire line of defense may be shaken, so the two sides have put heavy troops here, a village, a piece of mining area repeatedly compete for it, the battle was unusually cruel.
The Russian Ministry of Defense released word that more than 10,000 Ukraine soldiers had been surrounded in these two places. The Ukrainian army launched several breakouts and tried to break out, but it was said that none of them succeeded and lost many people and equipment.
The terrain on the front line is also not very favorable to the Ukrainian army, especially in Kupyansk. The key ferry is controlled by the Russian army, and the supply line is getting tighter and tighter.
In front of the front, the soldiers have suffering.
As far as the fight is concerned, the official statements of the two sides are simply divergent.
In Moscow, the Russian Chief of General Staff reported to President Putin that the encirclement was steadily shrinking. President Putin also specifically mentioned that humanitarian channels should be set aside for Ukrainian soldiers willing to surrender to reduce unnecessary casualties.
This sounds quite atmospheric, but everyone knows that this one trick is to try to break down the opponent from the inside.
But on Kiev's side, President Zelensky's attitude is very firm. He directly said that the Russian news was "fake" and "fake news" specifically for Americans. He repeatedly emphasized that the Ukrainian army's defense line is still strong. Far less dangerous than the outside world says.
In fact, it is understandable that it is now the key point of Western aid, the French-promised warplanes, the German air defense systems are still on the way, Zelensky must show confidence and determination, in order to stabilize these “big bosses” behind, let the source of aid continuously come.
However, the official statement and the feelings of frontline soldiers are sometimes two different things. Some Ukrainian grassroots officers and soldiers interviewed by Western media have a sense of helplessness inside and outside their words.
Some people complained that the superiors ordered them to defend positions that they obviously couldn't hold. It felt more like it was for political face than for real military needs. To this day, many soldiers have also murmured in their hearts: Are we sacrificing ourselves for the country, or are we dying for some political calculations?
Although Kiev officials did not respond to this sentiment, it did reflect the tremendous pressure and internal contradictions under the long war.
Western aid is the key, but distant water cannot solve immediate thirst
If Ukraine can withstand, much depends on the support of the Western allies and not in time, not strong enough, France promised to give "Fantasy" fighter jets and "violet" air defense system, it is a high-end goods, can greatly enhance the Ukrainian air defense and strike capabilities.
But it takes time for these good things to be promised and actually transported to the front line to form combat effectiveness, but the Russian attack on the front line will not wait for anyone.
It's like the house is already on fire, the rescue train is still on the way, and the people in the house can not worry?Zelensky, on the other hand, to stabilize the military heart, while constantly calling to the West "fast, faster, more", the pressure in this, can be imagined.
The war is still going on, the worst is the people.
At present, the battle between Kupyansk and Pokrovsk is still at a stalemate. It is still difficult to tell who will win and lose. It is difficult to tell whether the news released by both sides is true or false, but the bloodshed and sacrifices every day on the battlefield are true.
In addition to paying attention to the course of the war, the international community is more concerned about the civilians trapped in the war zone, who will guarantee their safety?
This war has been going on for too long, countless families broken, and we, as spectators, can only hope that the war will settle soon, and that the dawn of peace will shine soon on that troubled land.
No matter how this battle ends in the end, the price paid is too heavy.
