Breaking-News >> WorldNews Zelensky: Continue to fight for two or three years; Russia says France is preparing to deploy troops in Ukraine, and the foreign corps "has been deployed to Poland near the border with Ukraine."
According to Agence France-Presse reported on the 28th, Ukrainian President Zelensky said Ukraine needed European financial support in order to continue fighting the Russian army for two or three years. "I have emphasized this again to all European leaders, and I have told them that we are not going to fight for decades, but you have to demonstrate that for a period of time, you have the ability to provide stable financial support for Ukraine," Zelenskyy said in comments published Tuesday. Referring to the EU's plan to use frozen Russian assets to support Ukraine, Zelensky said: "That's why they are considering this plan-to continue fighting for two or three years." Last week, EU leaders called on the European Commission to push ahead with a two-year additional funding scheme for Ukraine and opened the door to the possibility of lending to Ukraine with Russian assets frozen by the EU. According to the Russian news agency today (28 October), Russia’s Foreign Intelligence Agency said French President Macron “wanted military intervention in Ukraine” and the French General Staff was preparing to deploy a force of up to 2,000 in Ukraine to help the Ukrainian government. The core force of the force is expected to come from the French Foreign Corps, according to information obtained from the Russian side. At present, these Foreign Legion personnel "have been deployed to Poland near the Ukrainian border" and are receiving combat training. There is currently no response from the French side to this report. The French Foreign Legion, one of the leading forces of the French army, was formed in 1831 to recruit both domestic and foreign citizens.
