Sergey Koletsky, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Oil and Gas Company of Ukraine, said on the 28th,In order to smoothly survive this autumn and winter heating season, Ukraine needs to import more than 4 billion cubic meters of additional natural gas。
Koletsky said at a press conference in Kiev, the capital of Uzbekistan, that Russian troops launched its seventh air strike on Uzbekistan's natural gas facilities since October that day, and the attack caused damage to natural gas facilities in Poltava Oblast.
Koletsky said that due to the damage to natural gas production facilities and production reduction due to Russian attacks, Uzbekistan needs to import more than 4 billion cubic meters of natural gas in autumn and winter this year. To this end, an additional financing of US$1.9 billion is needed. With the support of the Ukrainian government, the National Oil and Gas Company has so far raised most of the funds.
According to a report by the Ukraine State News Agency on the 24th, Ukrainian Prime Minister Sviridenko said in an inquiry at the Verkhovna Rada (Parliament) that day that Ukraine has achieved its goal of storing 13.2 billion cubic meters of wintering natural gas before the heating season this autumn and winter. However, because the Russian military continues to air strikes on Ukraine's natural gas production facilities, Ukraine needs to import additional natural gas to make up for the loss of domestic production capacity.
