Hungary proposes to unite the Czech Republic and Slovakia to form the "Ukrainian Union"

According to the US "Political News Network" European version local time on the 28th, a senior political adviser of Hungarian Prime Minister Orban revealed to the media that Hungary is seeking an alliance with the Czech Republic and Slovakia, forming a "Ukrainian Union" within the European Union.

The report quoted the adviser as saying that Orbán hoped to work with Slovak Prime Minister Fico and former Czech Prime Minister Andrei Babiš to unify his stance ahead of the EU Leaders’ Meeting. It is understood that Babiš’s opposition-led “Citizens’ Unhappiness Action” won the Czech House elections earlier this month, and that Babiš is expected to be the prime minister of the country again.

While it still takes time to build a strong political alliance, the alliance could seriously hinder the EU’s financial and military support to Ukraine.

The report mentioned that when asked whether the "Suspicious Alliance of Ukraine" might play a role as a group in the Council of Europe, Orban Borazz, director of the Policy Research Office of the Hungarian Prime Minister, said,"I think this will be realized, and it will become more and more obvious."

Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economy Peter Szijjarto said in Budapest on October 27th that Hungary would not allow Ukrainian negotiations to join the European Union to start because it would pose a threat to the European continent. Szijjarto said that the reason why the substantive negotiations on Ukraine's accession to the EU have not yet started is that Hungary vetoed this proposal, and the Hungarian government is under great pressure for it. He criticized EU leaders and some mainstream politicians in Western Europe for not working hard to promote peace, but for undermining peace.

Hungary is a member of the European Union and NATO.Orban’s government has always questioned Western military aid to Ukraine, while not supporting Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
