Blue dogs appear near Chernobyl nuclear plant, descendants of abandoned pets after nuclear accident, local organization: trying to catch them to find out why

On October 28, Haike News quoted the New York Post and other foreign media as reporting on October 27 that blue dogs were photographed this month near the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in northern Ukraine.

The local organization "Chernobyl's Dogs" said they encountered three blue dogs while catching dogs and are currently trying to catch them to find out why. These dogs are descendants of pets abandoned by locals after the 1986 Chernobyl nuclear accident.

According to the Economic Times, the 26 April 1986 Chernobyl nuclear disaster in Ukraine remains the world’s worst nuclear accident to date. The Chernobyl nuclear power plant suffered massive explosions and fires, releasing radioactive dust about 400 times higher than the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima. In addition to radiation, the disaster also released a large number of toxic heavy metals and other harmful compounds. This disaster forced more than 100,000 people to evacuate and set up a 30-kilometer ban area around the nuclear power plant, in this area, which is still virtually uninhabited.

In the process of human energy development, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant occupies an extremely heavy position that cannot be ignored. This nuclear power plant, located about 130 kilometers north of Kiev, Ukraine, was once a symbol of the Soviet Union's energy ambitions. After being put into operation in 1977, it undertook important power supply tasks. However, on April 26, 1986, due to a series of operational errors and design flaws, the reactor of Unit 4 of the nuclear power plant exploded, leaking a large amount of highly radioactive material. The Chernobyl incident was the first major event at the highest level in the International Nuclear Event Scale. The total damage from the disaster was estimated to reach US$68 billion. The scale of the disaster and the impact were unprecedented. Until now, the nuclear radiation in the affected areas has not been completely cleaned up.
