According to local media reports, a long-distance bus crash in the valley in Bolivia's central province of Cochabamba on 27 October, killing at least 16 people and wounding 36 people.

Bolivia's National Transportation Bureau said that the vehicle involved was originally a truck, which was later converted into an inter-provincial long-distance bus for passenger transport.

The vehicle reportedly crashed into a valley about 600 meters deep while traveling from Chiacoyo to Independence. The driver involved survived the accident and is currently in police custody. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.

Traffic accidents are frequent in Bolivia. Complex road conditions, poor vehicle conditions, drunk driving and speeding are the main causes of traffic accidents.
