On September 11, the Supreme Federal Court of Brazil ruled that Bolsonaro was convicted of plotting a coup and sentenced to 27 years and 3 months in prison, becoming the first former president in Brazil to be convicted of plotting a coup.

According to Brazilian law, Bosonaro can appeal to the Plenary Assembly of Judges of the Supreme Court of the Federation, under collective trial by 11 judges of the Supreme Court of the Federation.
