On October 27, local time, President of the Sovereign Committee of Sudan and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Burhan, delivered a television speech saying:The Sudanese armed forces have withdrawn from El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur in the western part of the country.
Burhan said the evacuation of Fashir was part of the Sudanese armed forces’ military plan aimed at re-deploying the troops, stressing that the Sudanese armed forces have the ability to reverse the current situation, regain all territory and ultimately win.
Sudan's Rapid Support Forces said on Monday that they had full control of the city of Fashil.
On April 15, 2023, the Armed Forces of Sudan and the Rapid Support Forces erupted an armed conflict in the capital Khartoum, after which the war spread to other regions. The armed conflict that lasted for more than two years has killed 30,000 people and displaced more than 12 million people. Darfur is one of the main battlefields of the conflict. The region is governed by five central states, and the remaining four states have been rapidly controlled by support forces. Since May 2024, Rapid Support Forces have long-term siege of Fakhil, the Sudanese Armed Forces and local armed forces allied with them to fortify parts of the city.
