Preliminary vote count results from the presidential election in Cote d'Ivoire show Ouattara won the election

Xinhua News Agency, Abidjan, October 27 (Reporter Zhang Jian) The Independent Electoral Commission of Cô te d 'Ivoire announced the preliminary vote counting results of the presidential election on the 27th. Alassane Ouattara, the candidate of the United Party and current President, won 89.77% of the votes, winning the election by an overwhelming margin. The election results will be submitted to the Constitutional Council of Cô te d 'Ivoire within three days, and will be officially announced after approval.

Preliminary voting results showed that the Democratic Congress candidate Jean-Louis Beyoncé, the Powerful Generation Movement candidate Simone Echevette Babo, the Independent candidate Ahuwa Don Melo and the Political Partnership Peace Alliance candidate Henriette Lagou received 3.09%, 2.42%, 1.97% and 1.15% of the votes respectively.

Under Cote d'Ivoire law, the president is elected by direct voting, for a term of five years, with candidates with more than 50% of the first round of votes winning the election.

At the age of 83, he served as Governor of the Central Bank of West Africa and Vice-President of the International Monetary Fund, serving as Prime Minister of Cote d'Ivoire from 1990 to 1993; won the presidential election in 2010 and took office the following year; and served as President of Cote d'Ivoire twice in 2015 and 2020.
