Fire in eastern Congo city kills 14 people

Xinhua News Agency, Kinshasa, October 27 (Reporter Shi Mi) According to Congolese media reports on the 27th, a fire broke out in Bukavu, the capital of South Kivu province in eastern Congo, in the early morning, killing at least 14 people and injuring many others.

Witnesses told Xinhua news agency reporters that the fire burned several houses, including women and children among the dead. Local media said the cause of the fire was unclear and preliminary estimates of the fire caused at least 400 people to be homeless.

Bucharest, the eastern business center of Congo (Kim), borders Rwanda. In recent years, there have been fires in the city due to disorderly construction and too close to houses. In February this year, the armed anti-government “M23 movement” of Congo (Kim) entered Bucharest and gained control of the area.
