Finnish research shows that people who sleep 7 to 9 hours a night are the most successful in losing weight

A new study aimed at the adult weight loss population in Finland showed that sleep quality is closely related to weight management, the length of night sleep, daytime rhythm and daytime alertness will significantly affect people's weight loss effect, and sleep 7 to 9 hours per night performs best in weight loss.

Researchers from the University of Helsinki and other institutions in Finland recently published a paper in the academic journal Obesity Medicine. They studied more than 1,800 adult participants in the healthy weight loss guidance project of "Weight Management House" in Finland. During the one-year digital lifestyle intervention, these people recorded data such as weight changes, sleep duration, circadian rhythm, daytime wakefulness and sleep apnea.

The analysis found that sleep is a key link in weight management. Sleeping less than 7 hours a night is associated with poorer weight loss, and those who sleep 7 to 9 hours a night are most successful in weight loss. In addition, the average weight loss effect of people who go to bed early and get up early is better than that of people who go to bed late and get up late. People with sleep apnea lose less weight, and those who are energetic and awake during the day have more obvious weight loss effect.

In addition, the study also shows that digital lifestyle intervention can provide effective support for weight management.
