Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, October 27th Spanish police announced on the 26th that about 6.5 tons of cocaine had been seized on a cargo ship sailing in the Atlantic Ocean. This is one of the largest cocaine seizures in Spain in recent years.

According to Spanish police, with the assistance of the Spanish Navy, the 55-meter cargo vessel was intercepted on the 22nd on a sea of about 600 nautical miles from the Canary Islands and all nine crew members were detained.The cargo ship departed from Panama, hanging a third country flag, to the port of Vigo in northwestern Spain.

Spanish police said in a notice that preliminary searches found that there were structures and facilities on board that were inconsistent with the functions of the cargo ship and were used by drug dealers to conceal drugs.
