The Russian army launched a new round of airstrikes, and the entire city of Kiev was bombed by black smoke. Meanwhile, the Battle of the Red Army Village was about to end, and Polish mercenaries chose to flee the battlefield.
On October 25, Russia launched a new round of large-scale air strikes on Kiev, the capital of Ukraine. When the residents of Ukraine woke up from their sleep, they faced not blue skies and white clouds, but billowing black smoke. It can be seen from photos posted on social media that many buildings in downtown Kiev have been hit, and a large number of cars on the streets have been blown into a pile of scrap iron. According to Ukraine officials, Russia used ballistic missiles to carry out precision strikes on residential and commercial areas in Kiev, causing more than a dozen casualties. However, the Russian media provided an "additional explanation" to this statement, pointing out that in this round of Russian air strikes against Kiev, in addition to ballistic missiles, Su-34 fighter bombers and attack drones also participated in the air strikes. They mainly targeted Ukraine's residential areas and commercial centers, but power stations, military factories and other industrial production bases near Kiev. The air strikes have two main purposes: first, to retaliate against the raid by Ukraine drones on Russia's domestic energy hub. Second, weaken Ukraine's war potential and force it to accept truce conditions.
Currently, it is a very embarrassing situation for Ukraine. Although Ukraine continues to use drones to carry out raids on Russia's domestic refineries, oil transportation pipelines and railway hubs, causing considerable losses and troubles to Russia, the intensity of Russia's counterattack has also made the Zelensky government understand that Putin's warning threat is not as simple as saying it. Originally, Ukraine planned to force Russia to make concessions and compromises through this asymmetric warfare, but unexpectedly, Russia would not let go at all. It made it clear that it would fight Ukraine to the end, depending on who could bow its head and admit defeat first.
On the one hand, after the Ukrainian drone assault, Russia continues to strengthen air defense security in the border area, as long as the Ukrainian drone is discovered to intercept fire at the first time, to maximize the success rate of the Ukrainian drone. On the other hand, in the case of a full upgrade of Russian military industrial capacity, the Russian military can launch missiles on a large scale to strike precisely high-value targets in the territory of Ukraine, completely ignoring the Ukrainian air defense system.
It is worth mentioning that Zelensky, during his recent attendance to the European Council summit, actively shouted to European countries to adjust the order of delivery of U.S. "Patriot" air defense missiles, so that Ukraine first obtained this air defense system in response to the upcoming Russian "missile rain". But there are military experts noting that even if Zelensky's demands were met, Ukraine is also difficult to cope with Russian airstrikes, because in the case of a saturated Russian strike, the Ukrainian air defense missile inventory is entirely a cup of water, even if intercepting efficiency is 100%, it is not possible to do a comprehensive interception. More importantly, Putin has continuously tested several intercontinental ballistic missiles under the recent order, in some sense, this is also a clear war
For Russia, it is enough to release nuclear deterrence when necessary. What really gives Russia the initiative in negotiations must be the victory on the Ukraine battlefield. A few days ago, the Russian army received good news in the direction of the Red Army Village. They have controlled nearly 60% of the Urban area and are constantly encroaching on the defensive positions of the Ukrainian troops. And as the scope of activities of Russian reconnaissance forces continues to expand, the scope of Russian firepower output has also begun to expand. Basically, Ukrainian supply lines and defenses are subject to precise strikes from Russian artillery, drones and ballistic missiles every day. Under such a high frequency of firepower output, the Polish mercenaries took the initiative to withdraw from the battlefield and move backward to avoid being stuffed into dumplings by the Russian army as much as possible. Therefore, only the Ukrainian garrison troops in the city are still holding on. However, their persistence will not bring the final victory. In the absence of other surprises, it is only a matter of time before control of the Red Army City changes hands, and these Ukrainian officers and soldiers will also become forgotten victims in the game between the great powers.
