Britain Ends 350-Year-Old Criminal Court Lawyer Tradition

British lawyers have been on trial since 1685, but after 2007, they will no longer be strictly required to wear in family, civil or highest courts. Today the country's lawyers' council has resolved: in criminal courts, if it feels uncomfortable or unpractical, there is no need to wear, ending 350 years of legal tradition.

Previously, African lawyers filed a complaint claiming that these old white haircuts were designed for white people. Now lawyers are exempt from wearing haircuts in criminal courts, but former Attorney General Sir Robert Barkland has criticized the resolution.

Buckland believes that wigs, like school uniforms, should not cater to social changes. He believes that their existence allows young barristers to be looked down on in court and also ensures the safety of lawyers to some extent, because outside the court, few people can recognize lawyers who do not wear wigs.

Senior lawyer Leslie Thomas has the opposite opinion, who is in favour of abolishing the haircut, saying it is "lack of cultural sensitivity."He thinks that this is a haircut designed for white people's hair, which looks ridiculous to wear on the head of black lawyers, and it is even more absurd to dress like the 17th century in the 21st century.
