On October 26, Brazil’s President Lula said he had a constructive meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and the two countries’ teams would “immediately” start discussing tariffs and other issues.
Lula said that Brazil and the United States agreed to convene an immediate meeting to find a solution to the tariff issue and sanctions against Brazilian officials. The negotiations will be chaired by Brazilian Foreign Minister Vieira, and the U.S. side will include Secretary of State Rubio and Treasury Secretary Bessant.
Lula said that there is no reason for "conflict" between Pakistan and the United States. US President Trump said he looked forward to reaching a "good agreement" with Brazil.
Brazilian Foreign Minister Vera said Lula and Trump reached a consensus during the talks to suspend tariffs during negotiations between Brazilian and U.S. representatives.
Recently, the U.S. imposed a 40% tariff on Brazilian U.S. products, and the tariff rate faced by most Brazilian U.S. products is up to 50%.Brazilian President Lula stressed that Brazil will not depend on any country, nor will it be restricted by the sentiment of a foreign president, and inter-national exchanges should be built on the basis of mutual respect.
