German Foreign Minister Waldfur made a series of remarks about China in front of the international media, trying to put pressure on China's core interests.

These statements not only sparked widespread controversy, but also directly led to the cancellation by China of his trip to China scheduled for October 26.

The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs made a tough response to this and reaffirmed the "one China" principle.

Wadefur made three so-called ¡°requests¡± in public, including asking China to ease controls on rare-earth exports to secure global supply; on the Taiwan Sea issue, calling on China to avoid changing the status quo by force to safeguard free trade in the Taiwan Strait; and urging China to use its own influence to pressure Russia to push the conflict in Ukraine to end as soon as possible.

These remarks not only have an obvious sense of Western superiority, but also try to kidnap China into Germany's diplomatic agenda, ignoring China's core position.

In particular, in the Taiwan Sea issue, Germany, although verbally committed to the "one China" principle, in fact questioned China's sovereignty in the name of "free trade" and tried to interfere with China's internal affairs.

In response, China quickly responded and made it clear that China has no room for compromise on issues involving national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Taiwan issue is China's core interest and no external force should attempt to interfere.

China has also criticized the German side's non-compliance, apparently acknowledging the "one China" principle, but behind the practical principles, it is conducting statements that are unfavourable for Sino-German relations.

The German Foreign Ministry subsequently announced the cancellation of the foreign minister's visit to China on the grounds that "it was not possible to organise enough meetings in China."

However, international media reports pointed out that other departments, except the Chinese Foreign Ministry, refused to engage in talks with the German side, leading to the completion of the visit to China.

This incident was not only a diplomatic confrontation, but also exposed deep contradictions in the relations between China and Germany.

Germany is China¡¯s largest trading partner in Europe, and the two sides have been working closely in recent years.

The data show that the bilateral trade volume of China and Germany in 2024 reached $2018.8 billion, and Germany is highly dependent on the Chinese market in automotive manufacturing, mechanical equipment and other fields.

At the same time, China is a major exporter of rare earth resources in the world, accounting for more than 70% of the global market.

As a key raw material in high-tech industries, rare earths are crucial to German industrial development.

However, Wadfour's remarks not only failed to alleviate German companies 'concerns about the supply of rare earths, but instead resulted in the cancellation of planned exchange opportunities for entrepreneurs' accompanying groups due to his inappropriate remarks, further exacerbating the plight of German companies.

The German Foreign Minister pointed fingers at China's Taiwan Strait policy on the grounds of "free trade", obviously ignoring the special importance of the Taiwan issue to China.

China¡¯s tough response was not only a direct counterattack against Germany, but also a clear signal to other countries that any attempt to interfere with China¡¯s internal affairs will pay a price when it comes to issues involving China¡¯s core interests.

The German foreign minister¡¯s ¡°diplomatic performance¡± was eventually cancelled with a visit to China.

This incident not only cost the German government and companies, but also sounded a wake-up call for other Western countries: when dealing with China, China's core interests must be respected.

China has shown in action that any attempt to interfere in China¡¯s internal affairs and challenge China¡¯s bottom line will be resolutely reacted.
