Sino-US negotiations ended, Chinese representatives confidently waved away, and Rubio refused to "give up Taiwan"

What consensus has been reached between the two sides in the end of the new round of talks between China and the United States?

On the afternoon of October 26 local time, a spokesperson for the U.S. Treasury Department confirmed that the two-day Sino-US economic and trade consultations had ended. This was the fifth round of formal talks held between China and the United States since Trump launched a tariff war against China.

So, how do China and the United States evaluate the outcome of this talks?

At present, the overall evaluation of the United States is relatively positive.

A spokesman for the U.S. Treasury Department said that the talks were very constructive. Its Finance Minister Besent also revealed that the two sides formulated a "very successful framework" during the talks, which had far-reaching impact and laid the foundation for the leaders of the two countries to meet under the framework.

Greer, the US Trade Representative, meant almost the same. He said that after two days of negotiations, Chinese and American officials have reached some results, which can almost be submitted to the leaders of the two countries for consideration.

Therefore, from the statements of U.S. officials, it can be seen that although the U.S. side's overall assessment of Malaysia's negotiation results is relatively positive, however, the two sides have not reached a substantive agreement, and the concrete results will only be decided when the highest level of China and the United States will meet in South Korea.

After the negotiations, Li Chenggang, the international trade negotiator and vice minister of China's Ministry of Commerce, released the news at the first time, pointing out that after more than a day of very intense discussions, China and the United States discussed some plans to properly handle the concerns of both sides on export control, extension of tariff suspension, fentanyl, ship charges and other issues, and reached a preliminary consensus. In the next step, each of them will perform internal approval procedures.

Obviously, the content given by China is more concrete, more pragmatic, and more certain than the US.

And from the video released on the scene, it can be seen that after the end of the first two rounds of talks on the first day, everyone's gesture when leaving the venue was relatively relaxed, and also active interaction with the media on the scene, which also shows that the Chinese side has sufficient confidence in this negotiation, and the process of negotiations is also in control.

At the same time, there are some worries on the island for this Sino-US negotiation, and some people even speculate that because the United States is at a disadvantage in the trade war and tariff war, the Trump administration may choose to "unify China and peacefully reunify" in the negotiations in exchange for a trade agreement between China and the United States.

In this regard, U.S. Secretary of State Rubio urgently clarified, claiming that the United States will not "abandon Taiwan" in the process of concluding a trade agreement with China.

But then rubio added: "There are indeed many things to worry about in Taiwan Province, which is a matter of course, because their situation is very complicated."

But the credibility of what Rubio said is questionable in itself, after all, he is still on the Chinese sanctions list, with little direct communication with Chinese officials, and himself is not involved in the process of Sino-U.S. economic and trade consultations.

It is worth noting that just recently, the U.S. think tank "Land Company" just released a research report, which made it clear that in order to stabilize China-U.S. relations and avoid the risk of direct military conflict, the United States should "progressively" recognize China's reunification of Taiwan.

Because the Rand think tank has a deep U.S. military background, so the authoritative nature of this report is quite high, which in fact can show that the United States is really thinking very seriously about how to "abandon Taiwan".

However, from China's perspective, the Taiwan issue is China's internal affair. The United States has no say in how to complete the great cause of reunification of the motherland, and naturally it cannot be placed on the Sino-US negotiating table. At the same time, the Taiwan issue is China's core interest and a "red line" between China and the United States that must never be crossed. The United States adheres to the one-China principle and welcomes China to complete reunification. This is the most responsible approach for Sino-US relations.
