A movie makes the Pentagon anxious

A few days ago, a plot about the U.S. missile interception capabilities in the American movie "Exploding the White House" triggered criticism from the U.S. Pentagon.

According to the trailer, the film fictionalized the plot that the United States couldn't intercept a nuclear missile to strike Chicago, USA. In the film, the U.S. military misresponded to the attack in many key links. A senior military role also said in his lines: "Although the United States has invested more than 50 billion dollars in this missile defense system, its interception success rate is only about 50%."

On the 25th, Bloomberg quoted a Pentagon memorandum as saying that the Missile Defense Agency, a subsidiary of the U.S. Department of Defense, was very dissatisfied with the plot, saying that the film "deliberately weakened the actual missile defense capabilities of the United States" and emphasized that the U.S. missile defense system has been in the past ten years. The interception success rate is 100%.

A statement sent by the U.S. Department of Defense to Bloomberg stressed that the department was not involved in the production of this film, and the plot of the film could not represent the attitude of the U.S. Department of Defense.

Laura Gregor, a long-term expert on missile defense issues, questioned the US "successful interception rate of 100%" in an interview with Bloomberg. she stressed that in reality missile attacks often hit multiple missiles simultaneously, although the US military believes the film set is not in line with reality, but the US military missile testing has a lot of limitations, so the "interception rate of 100%" cannot represent real combat capabilities.
