Balakot Hydropower Station is located on the banks of the Kunha River in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province, Pakistan, about 220 kilometers away from the capital Islamabad. It is the largest hydropower project currently planned and constructed by the Energy Development Authority of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Province. The power station is equipped with a total of 3 Francis generating units, with a single unit capacity of 100 MW and a total installed capacity of 300 MW. After the project is completed, it is expected that the average annual power generation will be approximately 1.144 billion kilowatt hours, which can meet the electricity needs of approximately 1.8 million people.

The head of the project said that the Barakot hydropower plant is an important witness to the friendship between China and Pakistan, and that during the construction of the project, more than 2,000 jobs have been created for the local population, and the development of related industries such as electricity, building materials and services has been promoted.
