The United States 'attack on China's timing center is only one step away from success! When the national security agencies announced the news, no one expected that the "National Clock" hidden in Xi'an would be stared at by the U.S. National Security Bureau for two years, let alone that the other party had used 42 special cyber attack weapons., put the sharp knife of attack at the vital gate of the operation of China society.
People may think that the timing center is not the place where a newspaper time is? how important it can be? but you think, if your time on your phone is slowed by a second, high-speed train schedules may be messy, stock market trades may collapse, and even missiles can be diverted hundreds of meters.
The National Security Bureau of the United States just set its eye on Lintong, Xi'an, the "time heart of China". It took more than two years to use all kinds of tricks to pick locks and smash doors, but finally it was planted in the monitoring network of our national security organs.
This matter has to start in March 2022. American hackers first stared at the mobile phones of the staff of the time service center, and took advantage of the short message loopholes of a foreign brand to slowly find out the employees' address book and login passwords like thieves with keys.
They chose to work late at night in Beijing time, using the time difference between Europe and the United States as cover, and also using servers from more than a dozen countries as a springboard to forge digital certificates to avoid anti-virus software. The work was meticulous.
By August 2023, they simply pulled out 42 specialty cyber weapons, divided into front-stage controls, tunnel builds, data steals, and wanted to bury a "time bomb" for China's timing system.
Why the United States is so on the “time” head? to say it clearly, who stumbles time, who can stumble the neck of modern society. the power grid gap 1 millisecond may power out of the city, the financial transaction gap 1 millisecond can evaporate tens of billions, Beidou navigation is the time out of the problem, the missile hit out is just like shut-eye throwing a drone.
More crucially, 85% of the world's atomic clock data sources used to be in the hands of the United States. Our National Time Service Center relied on independent research and development to raise the accuracy of cesium atomic clocks to 60 million years only one second apart, and its voice in international standard time rose. This wave of attacks by the Americans is clearly trying to regain the "time sovereignty" that China has just regained.
However, the United States missed two steps. First, our protective network in China is stronger than they think. Key equipment in the time service center has long been physically isolated. The multi-source backup system can switch lines in microseconds, and the Beidou satellite can also cover the bottom from the sky.
The second is that they rely too much on the old routine. Although the tools are advanced, the attack ideas are still the same as "mobile phone penetration-internal network investigation-comprehensive intrusion", and they were caught by our security personnel through log analysis.
The most beating thing is that while hyping the "China cyber threat theory", they made such a large-scale attack by themselves, which really answered the saying "thief shouts to catch thief".
Although this "time war" has been won, it reminds us that the contest in the digital age is no longer limited to guns and missiles. Now the United States is engaged in a "quantum computing competition", and the next step may be to focus on artificial intelligence systems.
But on the other hand, we can even defend the nanosecond time defense line, are we still afraid of these new tricks?
