Cote d'Ivoire holds presidential election

At 8 a.m. on October 25, local time, the 2025 presidential election in Cote d'Ivoire officially started nationwide. According to the arrangements of the Independent Election Commission (CEI), more than 20,000 polling stations will be open simultaneously nationwide, with about 20 million registered voters going to polling stations to vote.

This is the seventh presidential election held in the country since independence. This election includes many candidates, including current President Alassane Ouattara.

Voting will end from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m. that day, after which election officials in various places will immediately count votes and report the results to the Central Election Commission. The preliminary turnout rate is expected to be announced that night. The counting results of various regions will be released one after another starting in the early morning of the 26th. The national preliminary summary results were originally planned to be announced on the morning of the 26th.

In order to ensure the security of the election, the Ministry of Internal Affairs announced the deployment of a large number of police forces in major cities and key areas of the country, and the overall order in the morning of the voting day, such as Abiyang and Buwakai, was smooth.
