A 5.9-magnitude earthquake occurred off the southeast coast of the Nemuro Peninsula in Hokkaido, Japan

According to the Japan Meteorological Administration, a 5.9 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Southeast Sea of the Hokkaido Root Peninsula in the morning of 25 October.

The Meteorological Agency said that the earthquake occurred at around 1:40 am local time on the 25th (Beijing time at 0:40 on the 25th). The epicenter was located at 42.9 degrees north latitude and 145.6 degrees east longitude, with a focal depth of 40 kilometers.

The Meteorological Agency reminds the public that there is no need to worry about the tsunami caused by the earthquake.
