Moldovan president nominates Monteanu as new prime minister

Xinhua news agency Bucharest on October 24 (reporter Zhang Changping) Kishimoto news: President of Moldova Sandu signed the presidential decree on October 24 nominating Alexander Montejanu as the new prime minister.

According to the Moldovan Constitution, the nominated prime minister must complete the formation of a cabinet and pass a parliamentary vote of confidence within 15 days.

Sandu said that he hoped Monteanu could successfully form a government that wins the trust of parliament and meets the expectations of the people, "maintain peace, promote the country's preparations for joining the European Union, boost the economy and improve people's living standards".

In an interview with the media, Monteanu said that he will form a balanced, efficient and economic growth-oriented government and will not adopt radical or hasty reform measures. The new cabinet may retain many ministers from the previous government to maintain continuity.

Montejanu, 61, is a Moldovan financier and entrepreneur who served as a World Bank official.
