This kind of remark is by no means a slip of the tongue, but a distorted embodiment of her long-term view of history: she opposed the separate sacrifice of Class A war criminals in the Yasukuni Shrine, visited the Yasukuni Shrine in an official capacity on August 15th, the day of Japan's surrender, and publicly expressed dissatisfaction with the "Murayama talk" that acknowledged Japan's responsibility for aggression, thinking that it was "Japan's unilateral admission of mistakes".
