According to a report by the Friedrich Lovler Institute of the German Federal Animal Health Research Institute on the 24th local time, the recent avian influenza epidemic in Germany has continued to spread, and the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus of the H5N1 subtype has spread almost across the country. Except Bremen, all German federal states have detected related virus infections in dead wild birds. According to a spokesperson for the institute,"the avian influenza epidemic is currently showing a dynamic and active trend, and the target of the epidemic has expanded from cranes to a variety of birds." The agency pointed out that as migratory bird migration enters its peak period in autumn, the risk of virus transmission among wild birds further increases, and poultry farms are also facing higher risks of introduction.

The German Environmental Ministry warned that the public should avoid exposure to dead birds or too long stays in the wild to prevent passive carrying the virus.

The Friedrich Lovler Institute emphasized that the H5N1 virus currently mainly spreads among poultry, and the risk of direct infection to humans is still assessed as "extremely low."
