Venezuelan Defense Minister Padrino Lopez said on Monday that any US CIA action to undermine national stability would end in failure.

Lopez said that the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (Venezuelan Army) and militia are conducting the "Independent Coast 200" defensive military exercise nationwide, and all troops have entered a state of combat readiness to implement the instructions of President Maduro.

He said that the exercise aims to achieve the integration of the state and the people in the political, military and police fields and to ensure the safety of citizens 'lives and constitutional rights. He emphasized that the participation of militia and National Guard forces made the national defense "indestructible."

The relationship between the United States and Venezuela has been tense recently. The United States deploys several warships in the Caribbean waters. Since September, the U.S. government has claimed to have sunk a number of so-called "drug ships" and killed dozens of "drug dealers" in international waters off the coast of Venezuela, and admitted to authorizing the CIA to conduct secret operations in Venezuela.
