According to foreign media reports, the project is expected to cost approximately US$250 million. The Trump administration has previously said the banquet hall will be funded by Trump and other private donors. According to Trump, the banquet hall covers an area of more than 8300 square meters and can accommodate about 1000 guests. It will replace the temporary tents usually set up on the South Lawn of the White House to hold some large-scale events.

The White House East Wing was built in 1902 and the second floor was added in 1942, with the main facilities including the First Lady's office, a small cinema, White House guest entrance, etc. According to AFP, this project is the largest expansion of the White House in more than a century.
