Another French museum stolen after Louvre robbery

Shortly after the robberies at the Louvre Museum in Paris, another small museum in France was stolen and about 2,000 gold and silver coins fled.

The stolen is the Enlightenment Museum in the city of Langler, in the northeast of the country, with a collection of manuscripts, letters and historical relics from the 18th century.

The local government department issued a statement on Monday confirming that thieves stole about 2,000 gold and silver coins from the museum.Preliminary investigations showed that they were professional and targeted.

According to French TV 3, the theft occurred from the night of the 19th to the early morning of the 20th. The museum is closed every Monday. Shortly after arriving at work on the morning of the 20th, staff found that the sliding door at the entrance had been pried open and a display cabinet displaying gold and silver coins had been smashed, but other items in the museum were not affected. There were no tourists in the museum at that time.

Currently, investigators tend to believe it was a premeditated theft. The Langale City Government "strongly condemns this act of destruction of public property" in a statement.

According to DPA, since the beginning of September, there have been many cases of museum theft in France, and the criminals' modus operandi is exactly the same, specifically targeting jewelry, coins or precious items with important historical value. It is unclear whether the cases are linked.

In the middle of this month, the Jacques Chirac Museum in Salang was stolen twice within 48 hours. The museum houses about 5000 diplomatic gifts received during Chirac's two terms as French president. (Qiao Ying)
