As the footsteps of the Sino-American high-level meeting were getting closer and closer, the United States suddenly put it off.
Still a familiar trick! As the footsteps of the high-level meeting between China and the United States got closer and closer, the United States suddenly launched a fierce move.

On October 23, AFP, several informed persons confirmed that the U.S. government is considering a new round of export restrictions.

All products made with or containing American software may not be allowed to be sold to China, including everything from our commonly used notebook computers to the core aircraft engines of the aviation industry.

Interestingly, just before the news came, U.S. Finance Secretary Bessent just said he would go to Malaysia to meet Chinese representatives, paving the way for high-level talks at the end of the month, and Trump even said that "the United States wants to help China is not to harm China."

At the same time shouting to negotiate, while raising a big stick to beat people, what medicine is sold in the US? the eyes can see, this is to try to make concessions in front of the negotiating table.

The United States found the reason for this wave of operations, saying it was in response to China's recent expansion of rare earth export restrictions, but who is lying about this?

Not to mention that China's rare earth restrictions are completely normal resource management methods, just to say that the so-called "countermeasures" by the United States is simply a foolish account that harms the enemy and harms itself.

You must know that American high-tech companies have long been tied to the Chinese market. If they really want to implement this restriction, they may be the first to cry.

In the field of aircraft engines, General Electric's aircraft engines, China Commercial Airlines and domestic major airlines are the biggest customers of the year, last year bought hundreds of units from the United States, accounting for more than 30 percent of General Electric's sales to China.

If it is really not allowed to sell, part of GE's production line will have to be suspended, and workers may even take turns and take vacations.

Not to mention the laptop field, many models, chips and operating systems of Dell and Hewlett-Packard rely on American technology. The Chinese market accounts for a quarter of their global sales. If you really lose this market, the quarterly financial report will have to be green, and it's no joke that the stock price falls.

More interesting is the statement of the U.S. government, saying to restrict exports, while also letting the finance ministers to paving the way for talks, behind this contradiction hides their small calculator.

It is clear that we want to resume the route before the threat is revealed, forcing us to compromise on these issues of tariffs and market access.

But the United States has forgotten that China is no longer the same as it was more than a decade ago. We can accept the chips in their hands, but they may not be able to carry the cards in our hands.

America's most disgusting, is the rare earth mark in our hands, some may feel that the rare earth is ordinary mineral, otherwise, it is the high-tech industry "vitamin", aircraft engine high-temperature parts, chip manufacturing equipment, even missile guidance system, are inseparable from the rare earth processing material.

China's advantage is not only reserves, but more importantly processing capacity. Data in 2024 show that my country's global market share of rare earth permanent magnet materials has exceeded 40%, high-end products account for more than 30%, and more than 90% of the world's rare earth processing capacity is in our hands.

It is not so easy, their own rare earth reserves are only enough to sustain for six months, before relying on the supply of Australia and Mongolia, but these countries only produce primary mines and have no processing capacity.

To build a complete rare earth processing production line, not only will it take tens of billions of yuan of investment, but it will take at least three years for environmental assessment, factory construction, and equipment debugging alone.

In the past three years, military enterprises and high-tech enterprises in the United States have either stopped working and waited for production, or they have to pay sky-high prices to buy processed rare earth products from third parties, and the cost has directly doubled several times.

The United States always says that we "threaten the world with restrictions", but when we really want to talk about bullying, they are the grandfathers. During the previous trade war, the United States imposed tariffs on us first. After we countered them reciprocally, they went to the WTO and said it was "unfair".

Huawei wants to enter the U.S. market, but they block it on the grounds of "security", but Apple and Tesla are selling well in China, and we have never imposed targeted restrictions.

This time more speculative, we normally adjust the rare-earth exports, they will have high-tech neck, which is equal, it is clear that only state officials can fire and not let the people light up.

China's attitude has always been very clear, negotiations can be, but must be honest, want to talk side by side, knock the knife, do not have the door, if the United States really dared to limit this export to the ground, our counter-means can not only rare earth this card.

The new energy field in our hands is harder, 60% of the world's lithium battery production capacity is here, the United States Tesla, Ford these electric vehicle companies, many batteries have to be imported from China.

We are even more powerful in permanent magnet materials downstream of rare earths. 85% of the world's production capacity is domestically, and wind power equipment and new energy vehicle motors in the United States are inseparable from this.

To put it bluntly, the United States has long been out of play with this "pre-negotiation pressure" drama.

In the past, they could rely on technological monopoly to control others. Now China is constantly making breakthroughs in the high-tech field. The independently developed notebook computer chips and core components of aeroengines are being mass-produced. The restrictions imposed by the United States will force us to speed up the pace of domestic substitution.

As soon as we completely get rid of our dependence on American technology, this "big stick" in their hands will become wastewood, and then the loss is not only the Chinese market, but also the global industrial chain.

The current situation in the United States is actually embarrassing, wanting to force us to make concessions by pressure, and afraid that China has really rushed up the table, wanting to give up pressure and talk well, and can not let go of the shelf of hegemony.

But they have to understand that the current Sino-American game has long been not the era of who can unilaterally hold whom, reciprocity and respect are the prerequisites for talking.
