The Spanish football staff issued a statement that affirmed the final cancellation of the club's plans to hold the league in Miami, and stressed that this was the result of the players' united and firm defense of their labor rights.
The statement pointed out that the official decision of La Liga to cancel the game just confirmed that the agency has always had "ongoing contradictions","lack of transparency, dialogue and consistency" when advancing the plan to "change the competition model" and "directly affect the working conditions of players."
The Spanish Football Association highly praised the unity and strength demonstrated by the players. The statement emphasized that the players, acting on the pitch during the last round of the game, consistently conveyed the powerful message that “no player is no football.” The union noted in particular that the players were still firmly defending their rights “under the strong and continued pressure that they had been subjected to in the last few days in exercising their right to freedom of speech.”
Finally, the Spanish players' union urged that La Liga must respect the position of players as "main players" and "decisive party in the decision-making process" and take their demands about labor conditions seriously.
